Abseiling, also known as rappelling, is a thrilling and challenging activity that involves descending a steep rock face or cliff using a roping experience. The Sipi falls are a popular spot for abseiling, as the falls offer a spectacular view of the surrounding landscape, including the Sipi River and the surrounding coffee plantations.
Participants are provided with all the necessary equipment, including a harness, helmet, and gloves, and are given instructions on proper technique and safety procedures. The activity is guided by our experienced instructors who will be on hand to assist and ensure the safety of participants. The guides also provide a brief on the history of the falls, the surrounding area and the culture of the local people.
The abseiling activity takes about 2-3 hours and it depends on the number of participants and the pace of the group. The activity is physically demanding and requires a certain level of fitness. However, it is suitable for people of all ages and skill levels.
Gather necessary equipment: helmet, harness, carabiners, and ropes.
Meet with the guide and group at the designated location near Sipi Falls.
Go through a safety briefing and demonstration on proper technique and equipment usage.
Begin the hike to the top of the falls, following the guide's instructions.
Once at the top, the guide will set up the ropes and anchors for the abseiling activity.
Participants will put on their helmets and harnesses, and attach their carabiners to the ropes.
The guide will go first to demonstrate proper technique and to ensure the ropes are secure.
Participants will then take turns descending down the falls, using the ropes for support and guidance.
Once all participants have completed the activity, the guide will retrieve the equipment and the group will hike back to the starting point.
The guide will debrief the group and answer any questions about the activity.
